Southern Europe hot rolled cold (HRC) steel import prices continued to rise by €4 per ton week-on-week to €425 per ton in the week ended September 12, as per the latest figures released by the The Steel price
According to TSI, Southern European domestic HRC prices strengthened further the week, overtaking the North European HRC prices.
South European HRC price has now gained €20 a ton in the last four weeks. With imports into South Europe priced at around €420 a ton (CFR Italy), they are not competitively priced to compete with offers from domestic mills, which stand in the €420-430/t range (ex-works).
North European HRC prices remained stable, continuing to trade in the €420-425/t range.
Meanwhile, further trades of North European HRC swaps (basis TSI) for Sep’14 and Q2’15 were cleared this week on LCH.Clearnet.
