Sea freight index at Baltic Exchange rises to 777 points

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for bigger vessels advanced to 777 points on Friday mainly due to firmer rates for capesize and panamax vessels.

The overall index, which factors in average daily earnings of capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize dry bulk transport vessels, was up 12 points or 1.57 percent to 777 points.

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange is the rate which tracks for ships carrying dry bulk commodities.
