Russian ferrous metal export volume up by 7.5pct in January-July

According to the State Statistics Committee of Russia, in the first seven months of this year, Russia’s ferrous metal export volume increased by 7.5% YoY to 22.861 million tonnes worth a total of USD 12.1 billion up 4% YoY.

In volume terms, Russian exports of ferroalloys increased by 4.6% to 544,400 tonnes exports of pig iron rose by 20.5% to 2.49 million tonnes while exports of flat steel increased by 9.6% to 4.64 million tonnes all compared to January to July 2013.

In January to July this year, Russia’s exports of ferrous metals to non CIS countries increased by 9.4% to 19.6 million tonnes worth a total of USD 10.1 billion while its volumes of supplies to CIS countries decreased by three percent to 3.27 million tonnes worth a total of USD 1.99 billion both YoY.

In the first seven months of this year, Russia’s ferrous metal imports decreased by 5% YoY to 3.6 million tonnes worth a total of USD 3.24 billion, down 6.3% YoY.
