Northern Europe hot rolled cold (HRC) steel prices declined by €3 per ton week-on-week to €420 per ton in the week ended October 31 this year, as per the latest figures released by The Steel Index.
According to TSI, North European HR coil spot prices ended the week not far off from where they began the month.
The benchmark index remains only several Euros above the recent 12-month low as steel producers struggle to lift spot prices despite improvements in overall demand this year.
HR coil prices in South Europe were unmoved this week in markets which saw scant trading activity. Italian producers were said to be offering material in the €415-€420 a ton range but failed to attract much interest.
