Mexican steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (Ahmsa) announced a net profit of MXN 673 million in the Q2 of 2014, compared to a loss of MXN 711 million in the same quarter last year.
Net revenues for Q2 2014 were MXN 11 billion up 28% YoY. Cost of sales totaled MXN 10.2 billion in the 2014 quarter, up from MXN 8.50 billion in 2Q13.
Ahmsa, based in the city of Monclova in Mexico’s northern Coahuila state, is forecasting liquid steel production of 5 million tonne per year in 2015. Liquid steel production was 4.16 million tonne in 2013.
