According to a weekly price survey by the Japan Ferrous Raw Materials Association, Japan’s domestic market prices of locally available ferrous scrap averaged JPY 31,030 per tonne delivered at steelworks for No2 HMS in the main trading areas of Kanto, Chubu and Kansai in the first week of August, down JPY 111 from a week ago.
In the first week of August, the surveyed prices of No2 HMS ex steelworks in cash transactions were JPY 31,500 per tonne in Kanto, down JPY 33 from a week ago; JPY 29,340 per tonne in Chubu, no change and JPY 32,250 per tonne in Kansai, no change. Each surveyed price indicates the average of benchmark prices.
