Global nickel supply in surplus of 68,700 tonnes in H1

According to the World Bureau of Metal Statistics, the global nickel supply was in a surplus of 68,700 tonnes in the first six months this year.

In 2013, the global nickel supply was in a surplus of 201,000 tonnes.

Besides, copper was in a shortage of 296,000 tonnes in the first half of this year. Copper market recorded a surplus of 38,800 tonnes in 2013. China’s increasing production has compensated for output decline in Chile and Germany.

Global output of refined copper totaled 1.08 million tonnes up by 2.7% YoY.
