Germany’s iron ore imports up in first 5 months

According to data, Germany’s iron ore imports totaled 17.64 million tonnes in the January to May period, rising by 11.4% in comparison of the same period a year ago.

The import price of iron ore was averaged at USD 126.2 per tonne up by 1.9% YoY.

In the given period of time, the Netherlands was the largest iron ore exporter to Germany with 8.873 million tonnes with average price of USD 129.3 per tonne; Brazil was the second largest one with 3.06 million tonnes with average price of USD 135.5 per tonne and Sweden was the third largest one with 2.86 million tonnes with average price of USD 128.2 per tonne.

In May alone, Germany’s iron ore imports totaled 3.06 million tonnes jumping by 21.8% YoY.
