What is 40CrNiMoA?

40CrNiMoA round steel, 40CrNiMoA sintered steel, 40CrNiMoA steel, alloy structural steel referred to as sintered steel, 40CrNiMoA is one of the sintered steel, also known as alloy steel, it is based on high-quality carbon structural steel, appropriate addition of one or several alloying elements (total content of not more than 5%) and made of steel. The common quality defects of bearing parts after heat treatment are: quenching microstructure overheating, underheating, quenching cracks, insufficient hardness, heat treatment deformation, surface decarburization, soft spots, etc.

It has high strength, high toughness, good hardenability, stability against overheating, high sensitivity to white spots, and tends to temper brittleness. The weldability of steel is poor, so it needs to be preheated at high temperature before welding and stress relief treatment after welding. It is generally used in the quenched and tempered state, and can also be used as ultra-high strength steel after low temperature tempering or austempering
It is used to manufacture important quenched and tempered parts with good toughness, high strength and large size, such as shafts bearing high load in heavy machinery, turbine shafts and blades with a diameter greater than 250mm, high load transmission parts, fasteners, crankshafts, gears, etc; It can also be used for rotor shafts and blades whose working temperature exceeds 400 ° C. In addition, nitriding treatment can be carried out to manufacture important parts with special requirements.

Application of 40CrNiMoA

It is used as important quenching and tempering parts requiring high strength, high toughness, large section size, such as the transmission eccentric shaft of horizontal forging machine, crankshaft of forging press, etc. After tempering, it is used to make important parts with good plasticity, high strength and large size. For heavy machinery, such as high load shafts, turbine shafts, blades with a diameter greater than 250mm, high load transmission parts, fasteners, crankshafts, gears, etc. In addition, it can also be used to make important parts with special performance requirements after nitriding treatment.

Heat treatment of 40CrNiMoA alloy steel

  • Quenching temperature: 850 ℃; Coolant: oil; Tempering temperature 600 ℃; Coolant: water or oil; HBW≤269;
  • Quenching temperature: 860 ℃; Coolant: oil; Tempering temperature 580 ℃; Coolant: water; HBW≤260;
  • Quenching temperature: 860 ℃; Coolant: water; Tempering temperature 580 ℃; Coolant: water; HBW≤290;
  • Quenching temperature: 860 ℃; Coolant: oil; Tempering temperature 600 ℃; Coolant: water; HBW≤245;
  • Quenching temperature: 860 ℃; Coolant: water; Tempering temperature 500 ℃; Coolant: water; HBW≤340;
  • Quenching temperature: 860 ℃; Coolant: water; Tempering temperature ≥ 460 ℃; Coolant: water; 310≤HBW≤380.
